Below you’ll find samples of instrumental guitar work.
They are designed to showcase the range of material I perform at weddings and private events.
In these environments, diversity and creativity in material is an important focus. The demographic of these audiences varies widely. As such, you’ll find an interesting blend of songs. What ties them together are authenticity and craftsmanship in their execution. The acoustic guitar is a versatile instrument, and great music is great music, no matter what era it’s from. Acoustic guitar performances have a unique charm that is open to interpretation. Classic songs have a retro flair, especially when placed next to modern selections. Genres of music can have high contrast, yet a unique continuity, when placed next to competing selections.
On an acoustic guitar, you have the ability to go from the Tragically Hip to Justin Bieber; Frank Sinatra to Ed Sheeran; the Beatles to Radiohead… and it’s seamless.
When working with clients, my job is to develop a highly-focused soundtrack that makes an event highly personal and memorable.
Recorded live at the Lantern (Stoney Lake, ON), the focus here was on high-quality live sound in a live setting. The sound was pulled directly from the soundboard, and included a mix of a guitar microphone and direct-line from the guitar.
These recordings are designed to showcase a true live sound, They also show the seamless flow of an actual performance. With the Beatles’ ‘Here Comes the Sun,’ for example, you’ll hear it transition to Neil Young’s ‘Needle and the Damage Done’ as it fades out.
This collection spans a wide range of wedding and private-event situations. ‘Here Comes the Sun’ is a poignant wedding cue, ‘Love Yourself’ is a great cocktail-hour song, as is ‘Bobcaygeon.’ That said, I have used Tragically Hip songs on many occasions for wedding recessionals. ‘More Than the Sun’ is a great example of a softer sound for pre-ceremony music or the dining portions of a private-event.
All songs except ‘More Than the Sun’ are for audition purposes only. Not for sale or distribution.
Recorded in 2016, these songs focus on arrangements that are true to the originals. Arrangements of this sort are utilized most often as cues for wedding ceremonies.
These particular recordings are performed live in a controlled studio environment. Everything you hear is achievable in a live setting exactly as executed here. I make use of percussion instruments (hi-hat and kick-drum) by playing them with my right foot. All of the sound changes, both dramatic and subtle, are done live via a delay pedal and an effect unit.
Recorded in 2012, this session has more of a cocktail-hour or pre-ceremony feel. The songs feature more creative introductions and breaks. This allows for a seamless flow of music, which is ideal for these situations. Should these songs be used for a specific cue, arrangements would be brought back to the original for clarity and impact.

This was an interesting out-take from an electric session in 2009. The main live acoustic guitar track has been embellished with a couple of electric guitars.
