The right ambiance can make or break an evening.
Musically, you want material that’s engaging, diverse, interesting and authentic. You also want it to ebb and flow with the event.
For me, there’s a certain type of instrumental guitar playing that works. You find it everywhere from Johnny Cash and The Black Crowes to Jason Mraz and The Tragically Hip. There’s a lyrical and rhythmic diversity that accommodates everything from a fine dinner to an upbeat party.
I have a playlist of over 60 songs, so you can customize everything however you’d like.
This year I’ve started a new project.
For some time now, I’ve wanted to build a library of performance recordings that truly reflect the nature of my work. Since my last instrumental guitar recording, I have performed at hundreds of weddings and corporate events. Working with so many different Clients has greatly expanded my playlist and range of styles.
With the aid of a new recording facility and great sounding room, I’m able to work regularly at capturing each song at its best.
Everything you hear on these recordings is achievable in a live setting exactly as performed here. I make use of percussion instruments (hi-hat and kick-drum) by playing them with my right foot. All of the sound changes, both dramatic and subtle, are done live via a delay pedal and an effect unit.
I will be building this library two songs at a time, and will add to it every two to three weeks. You can also receive updates via E-MAIL, TWITTER, or FACEBOOK.
All songs are for audition purposes only. Not for sale or distribution.
I took some time in December 2012 to do a live studio performance. I wanted to have a good quality recording of a diverse live set. This one covers material you might hear at a wedding, dinner, cocktail party, or just about anything in between.
A realistic performance recording was the main goal here. We took a lot of time with set up, to capture the best blend of intimacy and size, then I performed one single set. No retakes. No fixing mistakes. No overdubs. Just one guitar and a hi-hat. The delay you hear was done live through a delay pedal and into the board.
All songs except “Fading Light” are for audition purposes only. Not for sale or distribution.
A great singer/songwriter evening is a fine art.
You want to blend the familiar, without falling into clichés. To make for an interesting night of music, I draw from a wide range of songs. Old blues and swing. Classic artists such as Neil Young and Led Zeppelin. Modern artists such as Maroon 5 and Lenny Kravitz. Along with an album of original material.
From original sets at Toronto’s Sound Academy, to evenings at lakeside resorts, I bring a unique performance to every venue — making things exciting, upbeat and unpredictable.
