There’s an expansive quality about things as your approach the Thousand Islands. Everything seems a little bigger. The trees. The water. The view. It’s almost reminds me of the ocean.

Perched on the shores of Prince Edward County, Waupoos Estates Winery is a modern oasis set against Picton’s rugged, historical backdrop. It was a picture-perfect spot for an outdoor wedding. The ceremony site jutted out into Lake Ontario like the bow of a ship. A permanent outdoor tent provided some welcome shade during the cocktail hour.

Colleen and Matt were phenomenal to work with. They were one of the first couples to hear the new Gibson Hummingbird acoustic guitar. We also shared a common love of dreamy music; everything from Coldplay’s Sparks to Neil Young’s Harvest Moon. They even added my recent single Get You Alone to the day’s playlist.

For their custom wedding cue, I learned Keith Urban’s Only You Can Love Me This Way. The special tuning on this track gave it a very thunderous presence.

It was an honour to work with them both.

Following the wedding, Sue and I took some time to photograph the tremendous views and vineyards. The sun was getting low in the sky, so the light was perfect.
