Happy new year. I hope you had an enjoyable holiday season.

From a guitar standpoint, December led into a great start to the new year. I performed at eight different private functions, ranging from intimate corporate and family events to full-scale theatre shows.

The holidays always have a heightened sense of warmth and camaraderie, bringing a lot more, it seems, out of every performance. With more repeat clientele during December, there’s also a growing sense of tradition. I’ve worked with many corporate clients for three or four years now. It’s great to see so many familiar faces, and I’m amazed by some of the details people remember. It would seem my hard work in arranging intricate, flowing, original songs and transitions between popular material has not been in vain. Many thanks to those who noticed…

New Year’s Eve started out with a bang at the Irwin Inn (Stoney Lake, ON). It was a full house of warm and kind music lovers.

I worked a lot through November and December to move my playlist forward. Music, like anything in life, requires constant evolution. I’ve always struggled to find upbeat, marquee cover tracks that dovetail well with my original material. I reached into some odd places and was quite surprised by what I found. On New Year’s Eve I debuted Fly Me to The Moon (Frank Sinatra), Is This Love? (Bob Marley), Moondance (Van Morrison), Sweet Caroline (Neil Diamond), Three Little Birds (Bob Marley), Stir it Up (Bob Marley), Hound Dog (Elvis) and Blue Suede Shoes (Elvis).

The following weekend saw a great private performance up in Huntsville, ON, organized by Tania Cowley of the Bala Bay Inn (Bala, Muskoka, ON).

Public singer/songwriter Performance Wednesday January 15th, 2014 @ Trent University.

I’m looking forward to my singer/songwriter performance at Trent University (Peterborough, ON) on Wednesday January 15, 2014. As part of the week-long Frost Week series of events, the show will be at The Ceilie from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

In stark contrast to the sounds of Sinatra and Bob Marley, this show will be focused on original material. Two new songs will be debuted: Choice and America. I’ve also added a couple of interesting acoustic interpretations into the mix, including a version of the electric song U.S. Cities from Dirty Kings, and Halfway Bold from my upcoming electric release Nothing Left to do but Sin.

I will also be doing a brief radio interview on Trent Radio (92.7 CFFF). This will air at 2:00 p.m. on Monday January 13th. It will feature a couple tracks from Nothing Left to do but Sin and, as always, some lively conversation.
